OUR STORY

The Journey

Welcome Friends!Over four years have passed now and the Aetherwatch Society remains standing as a small aid group and clinic, nestled in the Lavender Beds of Gridania....

...The Society is seen as Aetherical Redressers, specializing in magical issues, support for those impacted by the war, and medical assistance. We aid local patients at our clinic and deploy larger teams into the field for greater issues or foreign clients. At the Clinic, we welcome people with medical, supernatural, and arcane problems to our door. Our staff of qualified members will assist in removing any magical dangers, healing wounds, and diagnosing issues. In the field, we find ourselves answering calls for aid, tracking leads on dangerous items, and working to clean up issues left in the wake of horrible events. Aetherwatch is not a place for heroes but an organization of caretakers. But, and there is always a 'but'...The Society has recently found itself in hard times and surrounded by rumors and accusations. While on the books things seem to be cleared and all authorities within Gridania speak highly of the institution, the rumors persist. Are any true? Or is it simply lies and slander? No matter what is to be believed, the Society has retreated into its work, centered on the focus of healing and protection.Does this cause seem great enough to join, or will the rumors scare potential allies from our doors?

"Powerful mages hide in their walls, summoning darkness.""A frightening Conjurer lives there....""There is a witch.""Their people die....""It's a center of strange aetherical occurrences...""They have criminals in their ranks..."

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

The 'Society' was created by Catherina Renard and Emeline Tousart, both incredible mages in their respective fields. They have worked hard to create a group that not only helps the everyday person against dark magical practitioners and horrible aetheric situations but also resolves the aftermath left behind. Now with Catherina's Retirement, Emeline runs the Society with the support of her Officers.Aetherwatch is a group of magically inclined individuals and those that safeguard them. These individuals refer to themselves as Redressers to the public, those who serve selflessly in the pursuit of aiding, protecting, and handling dangerous situations and items. This is all the outward face of The Society, while protecting a secret from within...This secret is known as the Midnighters. Dedicated individuals picked from within and without that are brought in to hunt the darker parts of the world from blasphemous casters to twisted creatures. They are known to darker circles as hunters rumored to be working in an elaborate spider web of clans and like-minded organizations.Inside these walls exists a layered society of structure, mentorship, and close companionship. These three philosophies must exist to form bonds and develop trust. It takes a special kind of talent and many hands to maintain such an operation, and a mind steeled against the horrors and vile things that pour from the dark corners of the world. If you have such a mind to join, then read on and learn of the ways in which the Aetherwatch Society recruits its loyal members.

OUR HISTORY

THE FOUNDINGThe Aetherwatch Society was founded a little over four years ago by the eight members who stepped out of their everyday lives to build something bigger than themselves. Whether it was for redemption, to serve, to save, or for vengeance, these people were known as the Founding Circle. While the Circle still exists today, many members have stepped up into the leadership of the Society to aid in the dangerous and fulfilling work taking place.TODAYAetherwatch has grown into a place where those with experience will find a home. Even those in need have crossed from patient or client to fighting and healing alongside the veteran members. With the Final Days come and gone, there is now a need for Aid more than ever. Societies have risen and fallen, and in the midst, many have been taken advantage of by the cruel and dangerous.Aetherwatch has continued its work within and beyond Eorzea, finding itself in unknown and new territories to help those in need. They even work alongside their allies to bring aid to the people, pooling resources, and specialties.

The Legacy of The Midnighters

House Ornitier, an order of magic users destined to fight a dark war against blasphemous mages, was founded during the Sixth Umbral Era, around nine hundred years ago.Based on the principle of one master, one apprentice, House Ornitier collected the lost scripts of the Third Umbral Era’s witch hunts to continue the battle against dark mages and otherworldly forces. For generations, radically destructive black magick was passed down and used as the weapon of choice, primarily the element of fire, called hellsfire, to cleanse evil and as a representation of the witch hunts.During the Seventh Umbral Era, the lineage was severed when the black mage, Kino Kiari, succumbed to a doom spell, leaving an apprentice as the lone survivor to carry on the knowledge and history. That knowledge was discovered once more in the Seventh Astral Era, creating new clans of Mage Hunters that operate competitively in the shadows.

We run our combats in turn order style, while other RP is open and storyteller style.

REQUIREMENTS AND RULES

Our FC Policies can be found HEREWe are looking for characters that are current with the Endwalker lore and can access these locations. Sometimes our events take place in higher-level zones, including Endwalker. Applications received that are not at this point in the game will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.Mains are preferred. We want individuals who devote their time as their main and wish to invest in a collaborative RP FC. Alts will be considered if play times are applicable. This isn't an FC for wallflowers. We want people who love communities and want to interact and roleplay. If an applicant isn't willing to jump in and take the initiative then this won't work out.We are a mostly lore-adherent FC, but we focus on a lot of magical-based encounters. There are some fantastical events and bending. We are not accepting Reapers at this time.AW consists of older players with professional careers. Most of our activity is in the evenings (EST). We seek like-minded older players here to play a fun game.

A QUICK BACKGROUND

In Character:To the public, we are a group of Aetherical Redressers, offering a collection of healing, magical consultation, and similar assistance services. People with medical, supernatural, and arcane problems are welcome at our door. Our staff of qualified members will assist in removing any magical dangers, healing wounds, and diagnosing issues. The Society also finds itself in the field, answering calls for aid, tracking leads on dangerous items, and working to clean up issues left in the wake of horrible events. Aetherwatch can be a place for adventurers and heroes, but it is mostly an organization for caretakers. Those entering our ranks find themselves serving under leadership that seeks out individuals with talents to aid the cause. Either through magical aid, aetherical mastery, information gatherers, scouts, or physical protection. But there is something beneath the surface many do not see as secrets abound within the Society's walls...Out-Of-Character:Welcome! Behind the scenes, AW is a friendly group looking to enjoy the game and rich magical background of FFXIV.In character, we host a public face of an aid group and clinic, while a very private one remains hidden. The Society is also a group of highly skilled mage hunters, seeking to participate in an organization under the banner of a secretive clan.As a player, you might join as a member of our aid group, and later discover our secret, or perhaps you are recruited and given an opportunity to prove yourself the hunter. We wanted to create an FC with a deep background and a greater responsibility to the world while helping a player explore their personal story.Inside AW you will find a tiered hierarchy, inclusive RP, and an organized leadership core. For more information see the 'Our Story' page.

Our Recruiting Officer is Emeline Tousart (Discord Aster#0204)Please allow 48 hours for a response, especially if it is on a weekend. An OOC interview will be scheduled prior to an IC interview. The average application time from the beginning (application received) to the end (IC interview) is about 3-5 days depending on schedules.

POLICIES

FC Conduct & Attendance

POLICIES
By joining Aetherwatch Society you agree to follow the Square Enix/FFXIV Agreements and the policies listed below:
1) MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Real life comes first. No person should ever feel that the actions or events in the game come before things away from it.2) No Bigotry: Hatred will not be tolerated. Our community is comprised of many different people from many different backgrounds. We do not want any member to feel shunned or ostracized purely based on their race, religion, orientation or cultural background.3) No Drama: While drama in-character is fun, it is not OOC. There’s nothing that ruins the fun of the game more than drama and lack of communication. Going further by undermining a person, name-calling, or otherwise is construed as drama and won’t be tolerated. Don’t do it.4) Attendance & (In)Activity
Attendance: We wish to make our intentions clear about attendance in AW. We seek individuals that participate regularly in RP/PVE/PVP. An FC is only as active as its members. We understand that real life happens, but we wish for applicants who have a love of the game, looking to participate in a deep story, and like the idea of personal character growth. All these require one to be active.
Inactivity: If you as a player are inactive for more than 15 days you will be removed from the roster. If you return, and after speaking to the FC leads, you may be re-added.
Leave of Absence: If a member is aware they’ll be gone for an excessive amount of time (More than a week), they may speak to an officer and be placed on inactive status. LoA can be up to 60 days on inactive status, but leadership must be notified of your situation. We promise we don’t bite. Real Life first, just let us know!
5) Public RP: We ask members to always be aware that their public actions can and will reflect on the FC tag above their head. While we do not wish to dictate anyone’s roleplay, being a member of an FC means that you agree to take on representation of our mission and embodiment of our people. We ask that all members be aware when speaking OOC, participating in IC public acts, and communicating in PVE/PVP to be mindful of this. Your actions dictate how we are seen as a whole.6) Harassment: We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to harassment of a member. If a member feels that they’re being harassed in any way, be it sexual, spamming, or excessive trolling we ask communication to be open to making the individual aware. At this time or if the acts persist after, we ask that you contact an officer. The issue will go into resolution. Harassment will result in mediation, demotion, and/or dismissal from the company if found to be extreme or unresolvable.7) The IC/OOC line: You are not your character. We are not our characters. By joining AW-RP you are expected to acknowledge the line between In Character and Out of Character. This is a game, there is IC drama and intrigue. But OOC we are all friends who laugh and encourage each other for stable roleplay behind the scenes. Members that are found to be unable to maintain these lines will be given warning. If, after warning, the behavior continues you will be removed from the FC.8) Alt Characters: While we prefer that a member’s main is their player character, we do accept alts. Each player who has been a member for more than 30 days and has completed the new hire checklist may have one alt in the FC.
Please come to the FC lead or one of the Officers with any further inquiries. This does not include NPC's used for plotlines.
9) The Unrealistic Clause
We define Unrealistic as the following:
A character whose implausible talents, abilities and/or relationships with major and/or minor lore figures within FF14 create a disparity between what a character may reasonably be capable of.
Aetherwatch Society does not condone unrealistic characters. If leadership feels that any aspect of your characters background or abilities is Unrealistic (either blatantly or slightly), we will ask you to modify the aspect or ability to within 'reasonable' ranges. If those modifications are not made, membership will not be extended regardless of how well your character would fit.
All policies pertain to In-Game and Discord.Additional Discord Rules:
-There is no discussion of politics or topics related to hot-button events. We recognize that we all come from differing backgrounds and that no matter what, we’re here to play the game we love.
-An officer has the right to end any topic or ask a member to leave the discord Voice channel at any time. No questions asked.
-If you feel you’d get in trouble with your boss for looking at something (on purpose, or accidentally) then it is NSFW. -If you have even the slightest feeling something might be too risky to post, use the NSFW channel.
-If you feel a reply or topic starter might be too close to breaking the politics/harassment/bigotry rules, don’t post it. Or ask an officer first.
